You can make the BEST roasted potatoes in your air fryer with this easy air fryer recipe. If you are a potato lover, this easy recipe is for you!

These delicious baby potatoes are lightly seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper then roasted in the air fryer until golden brown and delicious.

Then for extra flavor, I add a bit of Parmesan cheese and parsley before serving. These air fryer fried potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside — perfect!

These crispy potatoes are amazing with air fryer pork chops or grilled chicken. I’ve even made them along with Brussels sprouts and air fryer broccoli.

Crispy baby potatoes are seriously one of my family’s favorite air fryer recipes!

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients for this baby potato recipe. You should be able to find them in your local grocery store:

  • Baby potatoes — Dutch yellow potatoes are the best potatoes for this recipe
  • Olive oil or avocado oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper

You will also need a large bowl, a spoon, paper towel and oven mitts.

How to Make Air Fryer Baby Potatoes

First, wash potatoes and dry well with a paper towel. Then, I like to cut these small baby potatoes into even smaller pieces. You can quarter larger potatoes or cut smaller ones in half.

Sometimes, you get a bag of different sized whole baby potatoes. Cutting the potatoes into smaller pieces makes them cook evenly and faster!

Place the cut potatoes in a large mixing bowl, and drizzle a little olive oil or avocado oil over them. You only need a fraction of the oil usually used in oven roasted potatoes!

Then, add your sea salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix until potatoes are well coated.

Next, put potatoes into the air fryer basket in a single layer or close to it. I’ve made these baby potatoes in Ninja Foodi air fryer, Ninja Foodi Grill XL, my Instant Vortex Plus and the Omni Plus.

The basic recipe and cooking process is the same for most air fryer makes and models.

The only difference is the Omni and the Foodi Grill XL are big enough to cook a lot of potatoes at the same time without switching trays or having to cook in batches.

If you have a large family like I do, this makes difference!

Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees f. When the air fryer reaches the desired temperature, add the potatoes.

All air fryers are different, but I find that air frying potatoes at 390 makes perfectly roasted potatoes with crispy skin and are fluffy centers.

Cooking Time

Air fry baby potatoes in the air fryer for 15 to 20 minutes. Shake the basket or stir the potatoes about halfway through the cooking process.

If you want really crispy baby potatoes, you can go even longer.

Every air fryer is different, but it is super easy to adjust the time to suit your personal preference. Total cook time will vary with size of air fryer.

Sprinkle some freshly grated Parmesan over the cooked potatoes. You can add some fresh rosemary or fresh parsley for extra flavor before serving this amazing side dish!

Air Fryer Cooking Tips

  • Cut potatoes so that they’re the same size for even cooking
  • Use cooking spray on mesh basket (for Omni Plus or similar oven style air fryer) for easier clean-up
  • Don’t use non stick spray on air fryers with non stick trays or baskets.
  • Preheating air fryer helps give consistent results each time
  • Check potatoes during cooking to stir or shake basket
  • Add more time for even crispier potatoes

Variations

We love these garlic baby potatoes, but you can change up the seasoning mixture for different flavors.

A little smoked paprika adds great flavor when serving this delicious side dish with grilled main dishes.

Make rosemary potatoes with chopped fresh rosemary. Italian seasoning or basil are good choices, too. Or, use your favorite seasonings in this recipe.

If you really want to kick up the flavor and make spicy baby potatoes, add taco seasoning, cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper or curry powder for extra spice!

Use Yukon Gold potatoes and cut into cubes. Or, use red potatoes for a different flavor.

How to Store

Store leftover potatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They should keep well for 3 to 4 days.

You can also use leftover air fryer roasted potatoes to make breakfast burritos or air fryer breakfast potatoes. These little potatoes reheat easily in the air fryer!

For longer storage, you can freeze cooked potatoes in a freezer safe container. Perfect for meal prepping!
