Chocolate Dipped Christmas Pretzels are mini pretzels covered in melted chocolate or candy coating. An easy treat for the holiday season and perfect for sharing with friends and neighbors!

The kids and I have been making homemade treats to give to their friends. We whipped up these chocolate covered pretzels in just a few minutes! They make great Christmas gifts, and everyone loves them!

We make chocolate dipped pretzels for just about every holiday, including Halloween pretzels and spring pretzels.

This chocolate covered pretzels recipe Christmas version is perfect for the holiday season. They are a little easier than Christmas pretzel rods and just as delicious.

One of my favorite things about this festive treat is that it’s so easy that even the younger kids can do most of the work. And they love that because they love to give gifts that they make themselves!

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients to make chocolate coated Christmas pretzels. They should be easy to find in craft stores or your grocery store.

  • Mini pretzels — pretzel twists
  • Chocolate or Candy melts — look for candy coating in holiday colors
  • Holiday sprinkles

You will also need small microwave-safe bowls for melting chocolate in the microwave or a double boiler if you want to use the stove top method. Parchment paper or wax paper, a rimmed baking sheet and a fork are also useful.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Pretzels for Christmas

First, place the candy coating and/or chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in thirty second increments, stirring after each increment.

You can also melt the candy melts using the double boiler method, but I find the microwave to be the easiest way.

Use a fork to dip pretzels into the melted chocolate. Let excess chocolate drip off back into the bowl.

Then, place the chocolate-covered pretzels onto a cookie tray lined with wax paper. Before the coating dries, you can decorate them.

Use a fork to drizzle the different colors of chocolate melts over the pretzels. Or, decorate with Christmas sprinkles.

You can also place small candies, like holiday m&m’s, and your favorite toppings in the center of the pretzel.

Allow the candy coated pretzels to dry completely before storing. You can speed up the process by placing the trays into the refrigerator.

How to Store

Keep the Christmas pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature. You do not need to refrigerate pretzels unless your house is warm.

Chocolate dipped pretzels are good for up to 2 weeks — if they last that long!

Recipe Variations

There are many ways to change up the basic chocolate dipped Christmas pretzels recipe.

You can use white chocolate candy melts, almond bark, milk chocolate or chocolate almond bark.

White chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips don’t melt as well unless you use coconut oil when melting, but you can use those to drizzle over the coated pretzels.

Use seasonal sprinkles, crushed candy canes, crushed Oreo cookies or your favorite candies as decorations.

Make holiday treat bags by filling cellophane bags with the pretzels and other delicious treats, such as Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies, Saltine toffee and crock pot Christmas candy.

Instructions 

  • Melt the candy coating or chocolate according to the directions on the package.
  • Use a fork to dip each pretzel into the melted candy, making sure the pretzel is completely covered.
  • Allow excess coating to drip off into the bowl, and let dry on wax paper.
  • Before the coating dries completely, add the sprinkles, and use a fork to drizzle different colors over the pretzels.

You can make as many pretzels as you want. Serving size is approximate.
Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. You can refrigerate pretzels if your house is very warm.
