Place easy Cinnamon Brown Sugar Overnight Oats in the fridge at night, and breakfast is ready in the morning. Add diced apples for extra flavor!

cinnamon brown sugar overnight oats recipe

Have you ever made overnight oats before? I’ve been meaning to try them for the longest time, and my daughter and I finally got around to making them. We started out with a generic recipe on the back of a container of oats, and then my junior chef kept experimenting until all of us were happy with the final result.

The awesome thing about this recipe or any recipe for overnight oats is that it saves a ton of time on busy mornings. And now that school is starting, it’s exactly the kind of easy grab and go breakfast we need. Seriously, weekday mornings are always chaotic around here, so the first meal of the day needs to be as simple as possible.

If you’re looking for other easy grab and go breakfast ideas, check these out:

Whenever I make hot oatmeal, the kids love brown sugar cinnamon flavor the best. Actually, that’s my favorite flavor combo, too. So that’s the flavor we went with for this refrigerator oatmeal.

We tried adding just fruit and a little bit of jam the first time we made the oats, but the flavor just wasn’t right. But when my daughter added cinnamon and brown sugar and a little bit of honey, the flavor was spot on! Even my picky teen enjoyed it!

Making the oats is a cinch. Basically all you do is mix the ingredients together, pop them into the fridge, and in the morning, breakfast is served. You can also make them in the morning, and in about four hours, you can enjoy a delicious snack!

When the oats were ready, we mixed in some diced apples for a little added texture and flavor. Then, we topped this delicious breakfast off with a little extra cinnamon and a drizzle of honey.

You can really add whatever mix-ins and toppings you want here. I’m thinking bananas and, maybe, raisins would go perfectly here, as well!

I do not like any kind of yogurt whatsoever. Will the taste still be good without any kind of yogurt?

    1. Dee says:

I’ve never made it without yogurt. It would probably taste fine, but it would be on the thin side.
