Easy chocolate banana muffins require only two main ingredients and are perfect to make when you’re in a hurry. They’re rich, flavorful and taste like they come from your favorite bakery!

Everyone needs a simple recipe now and then, especially when it comes to baking. I’m all for making things from scratch whenever possible, but realistically, I don’t always have the time — having young kiddos around the house will do that to you. And sometimes, I forget to pick up basic ingredients, like flour — taking the kids shopping with you will cause memory loss.  So yes,  I’m all for taking shortcuts!

So when I decided to make banana bread with the mushy bananas that were a little too far gone for smoothies, I realized that I had forgotten to pick up flour the last time I was at the grocery store. So, it was time to move to plan B.

And plan B is simply mixing mushy bananas with a box of chocolate cake mix, and it’s what makes easy chocolate banana muffins so incredibly easy!

So basically, these are two ingredient banana muffins, except that I added a little extra goodies. So, technically have more than 2 ingredients. But you can easily leave out the other stuff and keep this banana muffin recipe as simple as possible. I’ve made 2 ingredient banana muffins with yellow cake mix before, but this was the first time I made banana muffins with chocolate cake mix. And after tasting these babies, it definitely won’t be the last!

Just mash the bananas, add the cake mix and a few other ingredients, stir and bake! How easy is that?!

When the muffins are done,  your house will smell wonderful, and you will want to devour them all — at least I did. But luckily, the kiddos were there to save me!

Good recipe. I made it in mini muffin tins (bake 9-11 min depending on pan). I left out the chocolate chips and just put 3 chips on top and that worked fine. I was surprised how easy the muffins came out of the pan as I didn’t use paper liners and was running low on cooking spray so didn’t spray as much as usual (and there was no oil in the recipe). They popped right out. Be careful not to overbake – I had one pan that burned which is why I said 9-11min for mini pan as I saw a variance depending on pan. Thanks for an easy recipe.5 stars

Just made these. Very good. I was scared of no oil, or dairy, but they turned out great! I didn’t put chocolate chips on top as you, but they still look like they came out of an artisan bakery. I ate one hot out of the oven, could not help myself. Thank you!5 stars

Was looking for something to do with very ripe bananas and some peanut butter & chocolate chips. Tried this recipe and was not disappointed. Made 12 large muffins, very tasty. I was a bit concerned with no eggs and no oil, but gave it a try. Excellent. Will make again.5 stars
