Hey There!
If you’ve been reading the blog for a little while, you know how much I love quick and easy crafts, treats and decorating ideas. After all, we all lead busy lives, so it’s nice to be able to cut corners and still create some beautiful things. Of course, I also love saving money, so I’m always looking for ways to keep things as frugal as possible. I put together two simple decorations, and I wanted to show you how easy it is to keep things simple.
I love red and white at Christmas–well, I love red any time, but for some reason, I mainly use it at Christmas. Of course, red and white together reminds me of peppermint candy, so that was the inspiration for this easy peppermint vase filler. I just layered some red beads with white beads and created a peppermint effect inside an empty vase. I already had the beads, but if you wanted to create this look, I saw some beads at the Dollar Store too.
It’s so hard to get a good picture of a glass without the glare getting in the way, but you get the idea. Hmm, maybe I should ask Santa for a photography book or something like that! After the vase was filled, I just added some candy canes at the top. I kept the wrappers on to discourage the younglings from eating the candy. So far, this has been working pretty well.
See–isn’t this cute and simple? It goes with the other decorations and fills an empty vase–works for me!
I had another vase that was a thrift store find, and I also had some mesquite branches. The vase was a plain green color, and to jazz it up, I spray painted it with both gold and white spray paint. The branches also got a quick coat of spray paint too. Then, I just added a bunch of the painted branches to the vase and, voila–a completely different look!
I was trying to get a close-up, but it cut some of the branches off. Still, you can see how they look. I used this in my entryway, and ‘ll be sharing pictures soon. This would also work well as a centerpiece. I just added a twist-tie bow to give the arrangement a bit more color. If you have branches, you can do so much with them, and they work well with many different decorating styles. You can also transform just about anything with spray paint!
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and see my quick and easy vase fillers. I truly love your visits!
Dee 🙂
