Boo to You!
I’m always looking for ways to decorate with what I have, and I am tickled pink by this frugal Halloween display. I transformed a couple of Dollar Store items, and just rearranged the rest. This little vignette was inspired by my own little Diva.
Here we have Miss Witchy Poo, looking a bit forlorn on this plain shelf.
I’ve had her for years, but she has always relegated to a spot that is safe from the slobbery affections of the fur boys. Her pink hair got me thinking of a way to glam-up one shelf, and this led to a make-over for Miss Spider.
Talk about Arachnophobia! She’ll never get a mate this way. Then, we have a very orange pumpkin.
Originally, I was going to make this part of a neutral, Pottery Barn type display, so it got a coat of off-white paint. Then, everything changed, and it got blinged-out!
I used a mix of pink latex paint (left over from the Diva’s room) and drew black circles with a Sharpie at random points. Then, I added pink heart stickers over the black circles, topped it with a leftover black flower, which I trimmed, a pink ribbon to cover the stem, a pink feather from a dress-up boa and a dazzling jewel at the top. Miss Spider got a thin coat of pink craft paint.
I put them all on the shelf, but something was missing.
I love the fleur-de-lis scrollwork on the shelf, but even with this, it needed more attention. I borrowed a couple of boas and some tulle, and I ended up with this:
I think she looks happier already. Definitely not your average Halloween decor, but I love the pink pumpkin! Yep–Miss Witchy-Poo is much happier this way!
I love that this was such a fun make-over and that it was so wonderfully cheap! Next, I’m going to do a more traditional Halloween display, so stay tuned!
Thanks for visiting!
