Easy Halloween Marshmallow Pops Recipe

My kids and I have been making these adorable Halloween marshmallows for years now. These easy Halloween treats are easier than Halloween cake pops but just as cute.

Plus, they taste good, and they are so much fun to make! This is a great recipe to make with the kids, and you can make as few or as many marshmallow pops as you need.

Ingredients for Halloween Marshmallows

You can find the simple ingredients for this Halloween treat in the grocery store or craft store or online.

• Marshmallows — Look for regular large marshmallows not jumbo marshmallows. Fresh marshmallows work best.
• Candy coating — candy melts in Halloween colors. You can sub white chocolate chips for white candy melts or chocolate chips and use food coloring if needed.
• Candy eyeballs
• Cake pop sticks — or lollipop sticks or popsicle sticks to hold the marshmallow. You can use a large paper straw or even a pretzel stick.

You will also need deep microwave-safe bowl, plus utensils or toothpicks for melting the candy coating and decorating.

I recommend a cake pops holder or an empty box covered with foil or plastic wrap or parchment paper for keeping the Halloween pops upright until they dry.

Alternately, you can use a wax paper lined plate or baking sheet.

How to Make Halloween Marshmallow Pops

First, melt candy coating according to package directions. We usually melt the coating in 30-second increments, stirring after each interval.

Next, insert the lollipop stick or paper straw into the center of the marshmallow, and dip the marshmallow into the melted coating. Let excess chocolate or coating drip back into the bowl.

Allow the coating to dry slightly so that the candy eyes will stick without sliding down.

Mummy Marshmallow Pop — Use a piping bag or ziploc bag with a small hole cut in one corner to create bandages. You can also drizzle the coating with a fork.

Pumpkin Marshmallow Pop — Use a piping bag or a fork to make a vine using green candy coating on top of the marshmallow. You can use candy eyes or melted black candy coating or melted chocolate to make the eyes and mouth.

Black Cat Marshmallow Pop — Use candy coating to attach 2 chocolate chips to the base of the marshmallow for ears. Once they are firmly attached, dip in black candy coating. Decorate with candy eyes and use white or orange coating for the whiskers and insides of ears.

Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops — Use green candy melts for the face. Swirl black candy melts on top of the pop for the hair. Use a toothpick for the scars.

How to Store

Store marshmallow pops in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They will start to dry out the longer they sit. You can make Halloween marshmallow treats a day ahead of time for best results.

Helpful Tips

Microwave candy coating or chocolate in short increments. Never try to melt it all at once.

Use deeper bowls or mugs to hold the melted coating for easier dipping.

Have all of your ingredients out and ready to use. This makes the process go much faster.

Attach the candy eyes or candy sprinkles after the coating starts to dry. Just don’t wait too long.

Use a cake pop stand or a diy cake pot holder to keep the dipped marshmallows upright.
