Every year, the kiddos and I like to make quick and easy treats for Halloween fun. Some of our favorite Halloween recipes are Halloween Candy Bark, Halloween Marshmallows, Halloween Pretzels, Ghost Cookies, Monster Munch, Mummy Dogs and this cute Halloween Oreo recipe.

So when we were talking about what fun Halloween treats to make this year, my daughter suggested these cute Oreo pumpkins. They are perfect for Halloween parties or a fun treat for the family.

Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make these no bake Halloween cookies. You can find what you need for these fun treats in your grocery stores, craft store or online.

  • Oreo cookies — Halloween Oreo cookies or regular or any sandwich cookie
  • Candy melts — Orange candy melts and green candy melts if you want to add leaves
  • Candy eyes — edible candy eyes
  • Mini chocolate chips — Use for the nose and mouth or the whole face if you don’t want candy eyeballs
  • Halloween sprinkles or colored sugar– optional, but adds sparkle to the cookies

And really, you can use any kind of sandwich cookie for this cute treat. We used Halloween Oreos because that’s what we had.

My youngest daughter actually hid a package of cookies from her siblings because she didn’t want them to eat the cookies before we could make our favorite treats! That’s happened before — many, many times!

How to Make Halloween Dipped Oreos

Here’s how to make Oreo pumpkins. First, you melt the candy coating in a small bowl. Use a separate microwave safe bowl for each color.

Follow the instructions on the back of the bag for melting candy coating. It only takes a few minutes in the microwave!

Then, you dip the cookies and let them dry. You can let the cookies dry on a baking sheet or plate lined with wax paper or parchment paper.

Next, add the mini chips and candy eyes to make the face. We did a few this way, and then we started adding some orange-colored sugar sprinkles for a little extra sparkle.

Make the green stems and leave by using a toothpick to drizzle green candy coating on top of the Oreos. You can also use a green m&m for the stem.

When the cookies are dry, they’re ready to eat! That’s it. How easy is that?!

I guess these little guys really Oreo Jack-O-Lanterns, but it’s easier to write Halloween pumpkin, so that’s what we’re sticking with today.

How to Store

How do you store dipped Oreos?

Store these dipped Oreo pumpkins in an airtight container at room temperature. You can store them in your refrigerator if your house is warm or if you live in a warm climate.

How long will dipped Oreos last?

Chocolate covered Oreos and Oreos dipped in candy coating last up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.

Variations

It’s easy to have fun with this easy Oreo dessert idea to make different spooky treats. We also made a few Oreo mummies and Oreo monsters. You can use white chocolate chips, almond bark or white candy coating for mummies.

Use purple candy coating or green candy melts to make the monster cookies. Add black sprinkles for the hair and scars.

Make Oreo spiders with melted dark chocolate or milk chocolate and licorice legs. You can also make black cat Oreos this way — minus the legs!

I almost like the Oreo mummy cookies more, but they’re all super cute — and super delicious when you’re craving a sweet treat!

Tips for making candy coated treats

  • Separate the colors into small bowls, and heat in the microwave in short increments
  • Set treats on a wax paper-lined plate or cookie sheet for easy removal and clean-up
  • Allow the coating to partially set before adding decorations like candy eyes and chocolate chips
  • Refrigerate to speed up drying time
