All you need for this easy pork chop recipe is a skillet, pork chops and a few other ingredients. It’s that easy.

My kids are not that crazy about pork chops. Whenever I make something that my kids aren’t crazy about, I usually add barbecue sauce. It’s one of my secret weapons, because those kiddos will eat just about anything if it has BBQ sauce. And if it has pineapple, even better!

You can whip up Hawaiian pineapple pork chops in just a few minutes, so this easy dinner is perfect for busy weeknights!

Pineapple Pork Chops Ingredients

You can find these simple ingredients in your local grocery store, if you don’t have these pantry staples already.

  • Boneless pork chops — pork loin chops that are about 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick. Use thick bone-in pork chops if they fit into the pan.
  • Pineapple tidbits — or pineapple chunks. You will need the sweet pineapple and juice for the sauce. If you don’t have tidbits, cut up larger pineapple pieces or pineapple slices
  • BBQ sauce — Use your favorite brand of BBQ sauce here.
  • Brown sugar — a little brown sugar adds sweetness to the sauce
  • Seasonings — sea salt, black pepper, ground ginger, garlic powder and dried minced onions. Use onion powder if you like.

How to Make Hawaiian Pork Chops with Pineapple

All you do is make the sauce, brown the chops, add the sauce to the pan, and let the chops simmer until done.

First, whisk the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

Then, heat a little olive oil in a large skillet, season the chops with a little salt and pepper, and place pork chops in the hot skillet.

I like to cook the pork chops in a cast iron skillet. It does an awesome job of browning the meat, and it holds heat well so the chops stay nice and warm. But a stainless steel skillet or any heavy skillet will work here.

Brown the chops for about 2-3 minutes per side over medium-high heat.

I like to remove the pork from the pan, and let the sauce boil and get a little thick before adding the meat back in.

But I’ve also made it with just adding the sauce directly over the pork, and it’s really fine either way. Just do what you find easier.

Simmer the chops in the tangy sauce on low to medium heat for a few minutes. They finish cooking quickly, and they are ready to serve!

What to Serve with this Easy Hawaiian Pork Chop Recipe

I serve these delicious tender pork chops over couscous, but you can use jasmine rice, brown rice, white rice, quinoa or even mashed potatoes. 

Steamed broccoli or green beans pair well with pork. A simple side salad makes a great side dish, too!

How to Store and Reheat

Refrigerate leftover pork chops and any extra sauce in an airtight container for up to 4 days. You can reheat the pork chops and barbecue sauce in a skillet or in the microwave. This easy meal freezes well for longer storage.

Recipe Tips

Look for thick pork chops that are at least 1/2-inch thick. Thin pork cutlets don’t work as well for this recipe.

Pork is done when the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees f, according to a meat thermometer, so be careful not to over cook the meat.

The tangy Hawaiian sauce has plenty of flavor, but you can add a tablespoon of soy sauce, red pepper flakes, green onions, orange bell peppers and red peppers for extra flavor if you like.

Ingredients  

For the pork chops

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 boneless pork loin chops about 1 inch thick
  • Pinch of sea salt and black pepper

For the sauce

  • 1 cup pineapple juice from can of titbits
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar dark or light
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onions
  • 1 cup pineapple tidbits

Instructions 

  • Mix the pineapple juice, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, sea salt, ginger, garlic powder and minced onions together until blended, and set aside
  • Pat pork chops dry with a paper towel, and season pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet. When hot, add pork chops, and cook on medium high heat for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown
  • Transfer chops to a clean platter, and cover with foil
  • Add sauce mixture to the skillet, and stir to release any brown bits from the pan.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium heat, and add pineapple tidbits
  • Add pork chops back to skillet, and simmer in sauce for 8 to 10 minutes, or until internal temperature is at least 145 degrees, according to a meat thermometer or instant read thermometer

Notes

Look for thick pork chops about 1 inch thick for best results.
Use your favorite brand of BBQ sauce here.
