Hi Friends! The kids and I created these easy patriotic star cupcakes using plain white icing and colored fondant. Well, of course, there is a cupcake under the frosting, but you can use any flavor cupcake!
My kids love fondant, and although I’m not really a fan, it’s fun to work with, and you can easily make some cute designs on cakes and cupcakes. I bought a box of colored fondant for some flower cupcakes I made recently, and I used red and blue for these patriotic stars.
We covered the kitchen table with wax paper, and the kids took turn rolling out the fondant.
Then, we used a small star cutter to make some blue fondant stars.
When we had enough blue stars, the kids took turns cutting red stars. Even the little guy enjoyed this part because he thinks of fondant as edible Play-Doh!
We left some stars plain, and then we made some stripes and dots out of the leftover fondant scraps and used these to jazz up the rest of the stars. Easy peasy!
So, if you want to make a special dessert for the Fourth of July, you can easily make these patriotic cupcakes, and your family and friends will be thrilled!
Thanks for stopping by!
