I think I’m slowly falling in love with white pumpkins, which is odd because I normally gravitate to anything orange and red, and I love using these colors to decorate for fall. There is, however, something very elegant about white pumpkins, and I’ve been painting most of my Dollar Store finds in various shades of white. Hubby found two larger pumpkins on clearance at the local grocery store, and he brought them home the other day–what a nice surprise!
I’ve been bringing more fall decor into the house, and I thought that these pumpkins would make a nice arrangement in the living room. I have a large rattan trunk that doubles as a coffee table, and it can’t take anything heavy on top. One of the kids once sat on it, and it is slightly caved in. During the summer, it held some sea shells, but I needed something different for fall.
Because this room has Halloween displays, fall is still in the simple stages, so I didn’t want anything too overwhelming. I just placed three white pumpkins inside the tray, but it needed a little something extra. Then, I just added a few small pine cones and vase filler, which I already had on hand.
The two larger pumpkins are the ones Hubby bought, and the smaller one is one of the pumpkins I painted white. The rustic look fits perfectly in the front room, and it even goes with the little zebra-print stool that I have.
I love the muted colors and the way the colors fit with the roughness of the rattan trunk. I think the tray was meant to be a serving tray, but we aren’t fancy when it comes to entertaining. I like it better here. I added a leaf to my Dollar Store pumpkin to disguise they way the top looked after I pulled off the flowers that were originally there.
To make a stem, I used the tip of a branch that was being used in another arrangement. After Hubby trimmed some of the trees in our yard, I brought some of the branches inside for various projects–I love free stuff, don’t you?
I also love how calming this look is. Around here, we need as much calm as we can get. I’m also working on adding a little bling to some of my other white pumpkins. I think a little more elegance will look great for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for stopping by today. I love having visitors!
