Simple Starfish Wreath Made from a Pool Noodle

Hi friends! I absolutely love the ocean, but we happen to live smack-dab in the middle of the desert. So when summer rolls around, and it’s blazing hot outside, I think about the beach. A lot.

I’ve been adding more and more aqua tones around the house, and when it was time to make a new wreath for the front door, I wanted to use the same refreshing shade for the outside, as well. So I made this simple starfish wreath, and it looks as cool as can be!

Actually, I cheated a little when I made this starfish wreath. Does it look familiar? If so, that’s because you may have seen the base in it’s former life as an aqua blue and white spring wreath. I love to remake wreaths, and I’ve made over wreaths from just about every season. It helps save money, and it also saves time, both of which I could a little more of!

Anyway, the base of the wreath is a pool noodle that I cut and taped so that it was the right size and shape. These make the best wreath forms, and they are so much cheaper than buying foam wreaths from the store!

Supplies for a starfish wreath

Pool noodle
Duck Tape
2 spools of aqua chevron ribbon
Starfish
Glue
Floral pin
Knife to cut the pool noodle

Directions

Cut and shape the pool noodle into a circle, and tape ends together with Duck Tape.

Then, wrap the ribbon around the pool noodle, gluing the ribbon to the foam as you work your way around. I also glued the ends together so that they would be nice and tight. I used floral pins to secure the ribbon in place.

I used a coupon to buy these starfish at Michael’s, so that made it a good deal. It’s hard to tell, but they have a little bit of glitter on the front, and they sparkle a little bit.

I removed the flowers from the original wreath and used hot glue to attach the starfish to the ribbon. This took all of two minutes at the most — my kind of craft!

And that’s that! Easy peasy, right?! This is why I love redoing wreaths, but even if you’re starting over from scratch, it still doesn’t take long at all to complete this craft.

I’m thrilled with the way this simple starfish wreath turned out, but now I have this sudden urge to go grab a tropical drink and hang out by the front door.
