Today, we made a trip to our local Goodwill to see what we could find at half off. The last time we went, I only came home with a few items, and we got started later than usual, so I wasn’t expecting to find many goodies. However, today was a pretty good day for thritfing, junking or whatever you prefer to call it. This store only sells furniture and household items, so it’s easy to scope the place out quickly.
Ever since I finished the checkerboard table, I’ve been looking for another table to re-do, and this time, I found a smaller one that will make a nice side table. At first, I wasn’t sure where it would go, but after thinking about it, this little table would fit nicely in my little guy’s room. His room has an awesome aviation theme, so I’m thinking about colors and patterns for an aviation theme.
I was also looking for frugal ways to decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that determined the rest of the day’s finds. This is a sample of what I found.
This is a pumpkin serving bowl or candy dish. It was in pretty decent shape, but of course, I couldn’t leave it alone! It’s already had a coat of white spray paint and is drying and looking awesome! I definitely have a thing for white pumpkins now. It’s hard to tell, but the pumpkin is sitting on the little table. You can see some scratches in the top, but other than that, it’s in decent shape.
You can see the table legs better in this picture. I was taking pictures in the garage, so there’s that bad light to deal with. They had a ton of wooden bowls and trays today, so I couldn’t pass these up. The leaf tray is already in the living room holding some fall acorns, and it didn’t even need paint–just a light wash. I saw some awesome chalkboard trays in Blogland recently, and I was happy to find a silver tray so I can do my own version!
I also got some white plates and a nice vase, and I’m thinking of ways to jazz them up for Thanksgiving or maybe Christmas. The total for the entire haul was only around $10–not bad for some very thrifty finds!
Thanks for visiting and looking at today’s junky finds! I hope you’ll stop by again and see their transformations!
