This washi tape Easter egg garland is super easy to make and adds a fun pop of color to your mantel. Best of all, you can create this very budget friendly Easter decoration in a matter of minutes!

My younger daughter has a slight obsession with washi tape. She absolutely loves this stuff, and she’s already got an impressive collection. Whenever we visit the craft store, she’ll stare at the different patterns until I usually give in and buy some. So, when I decided to create an easy Easter garland for the mantel, I knew  that if I used washi tape, I could get all the help I needed immediately and without any moaning and groaning.

Actually, my little Diva did more than help — She did almost all of the work on her own. And so, my evil plan worked — just kidding!

How to Make a Washi Tape Easter Egg Garland

Not only is this Easter craft super easy, but it’s also relatively cheap, especially if you already have some of the supplies at home. Here’s what we used:

  • Cardboard egg cutouts
  • Washi tape
  • Craft paint
  • Pastel twine
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush

We picked up some cardboard egg cutouts at the craft store, and I also purchased some pastel twine and, of course, the washi tape. I already had the paint, so I let my daughter pick out the colors she wanted.

The Diva decided to paint some of the eggs, and on others, she just layered the washi tape so that the different patterns overlapped. She loves pink, so that’s the first color she chose.

When the paint was dry, she began cutting the washi tape into strips and adding them to the eggs. The possibilites here are endless, and you can get creative with the different patterns just by mixing and matching.

This one is our absolute favorite Easter egg, and it looks kind of shabby chic. This is one of the eggs that doesn’t even have paint — just strips of washi tape!

This polka dot egg is another one decorated with only washi tape.

After all of the eggs were decorated, we just cut the twine to fit the mantel and used mini colored clothespins to attach the washi tape eggs to the twine. Easy peasy!

I just love all of the bright colors, and I think this washi tape Easter egg garland turned out pretty darn cute! Like I said, this was so easy, especially since my crafty little Diva did most of the work!
