Homemade Cocktail Party Meatballs

Homemade cocktail party meatballs in a tangy red sauce are made from scratch and are naturally gluten free. Bake them in the oven and let them simmer in your slow cooker for easy entertaining!

Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 small potato, peeled and finely shredded (about 2/3 cup)
  • 1 small onion minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Sauce

  • 1 15-oz can tomato sauce (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, shredded potato, egg, onion, salt and pepper, and mix well
  • Form mixture into 1-inch balls, and place on foil-lined baking sheet
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until brown and internal temperature is 160 degrees
  • While meatballs are baking, mix the tomato sauce, wine, browns sugar, lemon juice and garlic powder in a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium high heat
  • Reduce heat, and let simmer until mixture starts to thicken
  • Add meatballs to slow cooker, cover with sauce, and cook on low until ready to serve
