Ingredients

  • 2 21 oz cans blueberry pie filling
  • 1 15.25 oz box white cake mix
  • sticks butter thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease a 9x13 baking dish with butter or non-stick spray
  • Spoon blueberry pie filling into the baking dish, and spread evenly with spatula. Sprinkle lemon zest over pie filling (optional)
  • Sprinkle dry cake mix over pie filling, and spread with a spatula or knife so that it covers the filling
  • Place pats of butter in neat rows over cake mix, and bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes or until top is golden brown and filling is hot and bubbly

Notes

Allow cake to cool down before slicing and eating for best results.
Cake is done when top is golden brown and mostly firm. Center may be slightly soft. All ovens are different, so allow 40 to 60 minutes.
Can use white, yellow, vanilla or lemon cake mix.
