Chocolate Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

This easy chocolate banana bread recipe is made with cocoa powder and chocolate chips. Moist, rich and perfect for breakfast, a quick snack or even dessert!

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 medium ripe bananas about 1½ cups
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1⅓ cups all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • cup cocoa powder Dutch process or regular
  • cups semi sweet chocolate chips divided
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉, and grease a 10x5 loaf pan with butter or nonstick cooking spray
  • Beat eggs in a large mixing bowl
  • Add in bananas, and mash with a fork until most lumps are gone
  • Mix in the vegetable oil, milk and vanilla extract until just combined
  • Add in the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and ground cinnamon
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, and gently whisk in dry ingredients until just combined. Do not over mix
  • Fold in 1¼ cups chocolate chips
  • Pour batter in prepared loaf pan, and top with remaining chocolate chips and mini chocolate chips
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean, or internal temperature is 200℉
  • Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and remove from loaf pan to finish cooling on a wire rack or platter

Notes

Do not over mix batter. Finish whisking once ingredients are just combined.
I do not recommend subbing butter for oil in this recipe. The oil will make a moister loaf. 
Sift cocoa powder to break up any clumps. 
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Place a paper towel under the loaf to absorb any excess moisture.
