Egg in a Hole
Egg in a hole is toast with a perfectly cooked fried egg in the center. Super easy recipe -- crispy, buttery bread, soft egg, ready in minutes!

- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 3 tbsps butter
- sea salt and black pepper to taste
Slice bread into 1 inch slices, and tear out part of the middle
Melt butter in a non stick skillet or griddle over medium heat
Place bread in skillet, and cook for 1-2 minutes, or lightly toasted
Flip bread, then crack eggs into each hole
Cook until egg whites are set, then flip bread again, and continue cooking until bread is golden brown and egg yolks are firm or to desired doneness
You can use your favorite bread. French bread or Texas Toast or sandwich bread will also work.
Cook on medium or medium-low heat, so bread doesn't burn.
For sunny side up eggs, do not flip after adding the eggs to the bread.
To easily flip the eggs, slide a spatula under the toast, and quickly flip it over -- no hesitating works best!
