- 3 tablespoons butter divided
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 pound baby gold potatoes washed and diced
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onions
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 2 cups beef broth or water
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
In a large non stick skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter
Add ground beef, and cook until no longer pink over medium heat, crumbling it up as it cooks. Sprinkle some of the seasoning in as it browns.
Remove beef to a clean plate, and cover with foil
Add potatoes to skillet, sprinkle part of the seasoning over potatoes, and add 1 cup beef broth
Cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are just tender
Add beef back to skillet, and mix in remaining seasoning, remaining beef broth, ketchup and remaining butter
Stir in the peas, and cook uncovered until tender
Reduce heat to low, and stir in the cheese until melted
Serve immediately
Be sure to dice potatoes into uniform cubes so they cook evenly. The smaller you cut them, the faster they cook.
I like to season the ingredients as they cook. I recommend mixing the spices together so you can gradually add them during the cooking process.
If you don't want this dish to be as saucy, add 1 1/2 cup broth after adding the beef back to the skillet. You can also allow the dish to simmer uncovered longer, and the liquid will reduce.
