Peppermint Puppy Chow (muddy buddies)
Peppermint puppy chow is the perfect Christmas treat for people. This is your basic muddy buddies recipe made with white chocolate and peppermint candy for the holidays.

- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup salted butter
- 1 tsp peppermint extract
- 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup crushed candy canes
Melt white chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter together in a large mixing bowl for 30 seconds. Stir, then melt in 15 seconds increments until mixture is soft. Stir until completely melted
Stir in peppermint extract
Add the cereal and mix until the cereal is evenly coated in the chocolate peanut butter mixture
Place half of the powdered sugar in a large ziplock freezer bag. Add chex mix mixture and top with the remaining powder sugar and candy canes. Shake until the cereal is evenly covered in powdered sugar.
Place the cereal into a mixing bowl and let cool. Top with additional peppermint chips, if desired
For easier mixing, place half of the powdered sugar in a gallon freezer bag, add chocolate coated cereal, and top with remaining powdered sugar before shaking.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
You can buy crushed peppermint chips or crush up candy canes in a freezer bag.
