Make a DIY Heart Plate for Valentine's Day

    Hi Friends!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and I have a very inexpensive and super easy Valentine's Day craft to share today. And like just about all of my projects, this one doesn't require any special equipment or skills. Hmm, that sounds too easy, but it's the truth! if you can write or draw basic shapes, you can do this!

I love using chargers to decorate the house for different holidays and seasons, but I usually turn them into chalkboard plates and write seasonal messages in the center. But this time, I took the easy way out and created this DIY Heart Plate, using only a white paint pen to make the designs.

red charger painted with love and hearts

Don't get me wrong -- I still love chalkboard plates, but it was time for something different. I actually bought several chargers on clearance around Christmas, so I already had a red one that was just waiting to be decorated. Don't you love it when you can make a craft without spending any extra money at all?! Anyway, here's what I used to make the heart plate.

    Supplies

    • Large red charger from the craft store or Dollar Store
    • White paint pen
    • Red and white ribbon from the Dollar Store
    • Red Sharpie for embellishing the ribbon
    • Hot glue

I love the look of calligraphy, so I decided to try my hand at it -- total play on words here, ha ha. I played around with different fonts on Pic Monkey and just used that as a guide to write love in the center of the plate. You can see that the lettering isn't quite perfect, but it'll do.

Then, I just drew a bunch of hearts around the center of the plate with the paint pen. The ribbon was left over from Christmas, but I added some red hearts so that it would work better for Valentine's Day. Then, I just glued the ribbon to the top of the plate, and the heart plate was complete!

The plate looks darker in this picture, but it's really a very pretty shade of red. And if you can't find a red charger, you could always spray paint one. That's what I usually do, but this color was perfect for this project.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to visit!

Super cute, I love it! My mom has a ton of decorations and she even has Valentines decor. I think she'd like this too. She made my aunt a green one for Christmas that looked like the Grinch, She did really good.
