Hello, hello! How is your week so far? I’m super excited because I completed a project for my little boy’s airplane themed room, and we are so happy with the way it turned out! I say we, because it wouldn’t mean much if he didn’t like it. Anyway, remember those faux metal letters I made last week? I still had to complete the board to hang them on. Well, it’s all done, and now my little guy has this cool DIY aviation inspired wall art hanging in his room!
After I painted the letters, the little man suggested making the board resemble a white cloud, but that’s not so easy to do with a rectangular board. So we compromised, and I painted the board white, but I stencilled on some red stars instead.
It still wasn’t looking quite right, mostly because the metal look of the letters didn’t go with the bright red and white board. But after a little distressing, it was much better!
I used both sand paper and steel wool to get the look I wanted. And, the steel wool added a little touch of gray to the white paint, giving the sign a vintage vibe.
Thanks so much for visiting!
