Easy Pumpkin Alfredo penne pasta is creamy, savory and tastes amazing. Best of all it only takes a few short minutes to make!

I have a confession to make — I’m not a fan of Alfredo sauce, which is strange, considering this recipe is basically a different version of that classic white sauce. When it comes to serving pasta, the Hubs is one who really, truly loves Alfredo sauce, while I really prefer marinara sauce. Fettuccine Alfredo is his all-time favorite meal, and he always requests it on his birthday. And unlike me, he’s definitely not a fan of pumpkin. So, I guess you could say that this pumpkin Alfredo is the perfect compromise. It’s a dish we can both agree on, and it’s like the best of both worlds for us.

I used to rely on jarred sauce whenever I made any kind of Alfredo pasta, but it’s actually super easy to make your own. And when I found out how easy it is to make homemade Alfredo sauce, I was hooked.
This recipe is slightly different, since you’re adding pumpkin, but the flavor isn’t that strong. I also add some pumpkin pie spice, just to enhance that amazing pumpkin taste, as well as some dried sage.

I usually serve this with penne, but any type of thick pasta works just as well. I also like to top the sauce with additional Parmesan or even mozzarella cheese right before serving.
And if you happen to have some fresh basil or sage on hand, definitely chop a few leaves up for garnish!

We sometimes serve this easy pumpkin Alfredo with either chicken or Italian sausage, and sometimes, we just serve it as is. Either way, it’s a family favorite and something that we all enjoy, which is rare!
