Gingerbread Cheesecake Dip
If you’re looking for an easy dessert for the holidays, you’re going to love this easy recipe for gingerbread cookie dip! With a hint of molasses and warm spices, this sweet dip tastes just like a gingerbread cookie — only it’s much easier to make. My kids pretty much devoured this Christmas dip in one day — it’s that good!
Ingredient Notes
Here’s a quick list of the simple ingredients you need for the dip. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.
- Cream cheese — use full fat cream cheese for best flavor. Let it soften at room temperature to make it easier to mix.
- Powdered sugar — also known as confectioners sugar, this helps to sweeten the dip
- Brown sugar — adds a deeper flavor and extra sweetness
- Molasses — I use unsulphured molasses for best taste
- Cool Whip — or any non dairy whipped topping to make the dip nice and fluffy. You can use whipped cream but it will have more of a creamier texture.
- Spices — ground ginger, cinnamon and ground cloves. You can add a pinch of allspice for more spice if you have it.
How to Make Gingerbread Dip
First, cream the cream cheese with a hand mixer until soft and fluffy. Then, mix in the powdered sugar, brown sugar, molasses and spices. Gently fold in the whipped topping until well blended, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this fluffy cookie dip in a serving bowl topped with festive sprinkles along with your favorite dippers. We like vanilla wafers, graham crackers, molasses cookies and gingerbread cookies or sugar cookies for dipping. Fresh fruit, especially apple slices, also works well.
Storage
Store the dip in the refrigerator in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap. It keeps for about 3-4 days before it starts to break down. This is a great dessert to make ahead of time.
Recipe Tip
Make sure to use softened cream cheese and thawed Cool Whip for easier mixing.
Fold the Cool Whip in with a spatula — don’t use the mixer as the whipped topping will break down and the dip won’t be as fluffy.
