    Fancy Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows

    Hi Sweet Friends!

I know many of you are immersed in holiday baking right about now, but sometimes, you just want a quick treat that doesn't take a lot of time or effort to make. I mean, I love baking, but I also love quick and easy desserts, especially around the busy holiday season. You may have seen this little treat floating around Pinterest or other blogs, but I wanted to show you the fancy chocolate dipped marshmallows that the kids and I made the other night.

In my family, chocolate definitely rules. Well, Hubby is not a big fan, but even he enjoyed these tasty bites of chocolate goodness. And, the combination of chocolate and gooey marshmallows just can't be beat! Plus, you'll only need a few ingredients:

    • Jumbo-sized marshmallows
    • Semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used Ghirardelli)
    • Candy sprinkles
    • Paper straws or lollipop sticks (optional)

There really isn't much of a recipe, and you can adjust the amounts to fit the number of marshmallows you want to make. I usually make about 10 to 15 at a time. I used maybe 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips, dumped them into a large cereal bowl and microwaved them until they were soft and melted.

I almost always use the microwave to melt chocolate, but the key is to heat it up a few seconds at a time and stir between heating. That way, you don't overcook the chocolate, and everyone is happy!

When the chips were melted, we began dipping the marshmallows into the chocolate. We tried the paper straws, but honestly, it was easier to dip them by hand and set them with the chocolate side up on a plate. Then, we sprinkled the candy on top of the chocolate and refrigerated the marshmallows until the chocolate coating was set.

These make a great spur-of-the-moment treat, especially on busy days. So, you can make a few at a time and when they're gone, you can just make some more! In my house, these go fast!

They also pair well with hot chocolate or even a cup of coffee. My kids preferred using the paper straws to dip the marshmallows into the hot chocolate, and then, they would use them to sip what was left, after it cooled down.

So, the next time you're craving a sweet treat, make a few chocolate covered marshmallows, and then you can get back to your regular baking!

    Have a super day!

Thanks, Dee, for this great idea for those of us who don't bake at all for Christmas (but want to have some home-made-y looking things out for company). These are so adorable! I am pinning them now!
