This is the time of year when it's all about football and food -- how awesome is that?! I grew up in a football-loving family, and we're talking the whole family -- parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We were always super excited when fall rolled around because that meant the start of a new season. And if our favorite team made the playoffs, that was even better.

And, best of all was the food that accompanied the game. Because as everyone knows, you have to have amazing snacks and appetizers while you cheer on your favorite team, right?!

My grandma always made wings, and hers were amazing. Personally, I'm partial to pizza. We used to always go out for pizza after football in high school, and even today, it's almost always on our game-day menu.

So, I thought I would combine these two favorite foods and make my own version of pizza and wings for game day.

As much as I enjoy cooking, I want to save time in the kitchen on game days. So when I was shopping at Walmart, I picked up a Red Baron Classic Crust 4-Cheese Pizza. There are so many different varieties to choose from, but our favorites are cheese and pepperoni, so I also purchased a Red Baron Brick Oven Crust Pepperoni Pizza.

I also picked up a super sweet and very chocolaty Edwards pie. I've been good lately, and this pie just seemed to be calling my name.

As much as I love chicken wings, they can be messy, especially for my kids, and I wanted something that we could all easily eat while watching the game.

These homemade Buffalo chicken poppers have all of the flavor of wings, but they aren't messy at all. Just pop them in your mouth and enjoy!

How to make homemade Buffalo chicken poppers

All you have to do is cut up some chicken tenders into bite-sized pieces. Then, you season them with salt and pepper, dunk them in some buttermilk, dip them in Buffalo sauce, coat them with panko bread crumbs and bake them. Easy, peasy.

Because they're small, they only take about 20 minutes to bake, and that means you can cook them along with the pizza.

I like to cut the pizza into strips since it's easier to munch on this way. Just look at that perfect crispy crust!

It goes perfectly well with the crunchy chicken poppers.

The chicken poppers are slightly spicy so I like to serve them with celery, carrots and cool ranch dressing.
