Valentine’s Hair Flowers

I know that a lot of girls love wearing hair bows, but my little girl is addicted to hair flowers. This is a good thing because I am completely useless when it comes to making bows — they really, seriously do not turn out when I try to make them. But hair flowers are a whole different story — even the kids can make these. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, we thought it would be cute to make some Valentine’s Hair flowers.

I found these darling red and white heart flowers on clearance at Michael’s during the summer, and we made hair flowers for the Fourth of July. The last time we were there, we saw them again, so you can grab as many as you want.

To make the hair flowers, you also need:

Metal hair clips
Small brads
Large crystals for the center
Glue

Once you have the supplies, it’s just a matter of taking the flowers apart and re-assembling them. You can mix and match different flowers to make your own designs. Just glue the crystals onto the brads, and thread them through the center holes in the flowers. Bend the prongs through the top part of the clip, and you’re done!

We made this flower by adding part of a larger red flower to the back of the heart flower.

My daughter got creative and added pink and white flower petals to this one.

We also made a simple red and white heart flower without adding anything extra. My little Diva clipped the flower to her bun before heading off to dance, and that’s why you only see the top of her head here. Gotta love those top buns!

So even if your bow-making skills aren’t perfect, you can still create some cute Valentine’s Day hair accessories. And, since they’re so easy to make, you can make as many as you want. My Diva has a flower to go with all of her outfits — really!
