Roasted Buffalo chickpeas are crispy, crunchy, spicy and perfect for game day. Once you start snacking on these, it’s hard to stop!

I love chickpeas. I love them in pasta, salads and of course, hummus. There’s something about their earthy, nutty taste that’s just completely satisfying. So when I heard about roasted chickpeas, I was immediately intrigued, and I definitely wanted to try them one day.

Well this weekend, I finally got around to experimenting, and I made a tray of Roasted Buffalo Chickpeas. And let me tell you, they’re the best!

I love spicy food, and I’m on a bit of a Buffalo flavor kick lately. Maybe it’s because we’re approaching football season, and I’m thinking ahead to some tasty game day grub, or maybe it’s just because I really love the taste. So when I was thinking of ways to season the chickpeas, I immediately thought of using Buffalo sauce.

The tricky part is adding the sauce to the chickpeas and making sure they get nice and crispy in the oven. Normally, you would dry them well and season them with spices before roasting. But adding more liquid is kind of like going in the opposite direction.

I tried a couple of different methods of flavoring the chickpeas, and while both of them worked well for adding spice, marinating them first was the best way get the taste and that all-important crispiness that I was after.

I kept checking on the chickpeas until I got the texture I was after, and it took a just slightly more than 30 minutes. They’re crispy on the outside and slightly chewy in the center, and definitely on the spicy side. But oh, are they ever good!

Chickpeas are loaded with protein, fiber and lots of other nutrients, so there’s no need to fill guilty for munching on this snack. Think of it as a healthier alternative to chips or maybe even Buffalo wings! You may want to serve them with your favorite ranch dressing and maybe some celery sticks.

The only problem is that they are so addicting. Once you start snacking on these roasted Buffalo chickpeas, it’s hard to stop. Even my kids enjoyed them!

So, have you ever roasted chickpeas before? What’s your favorite flavor? I’d love to know.

I'm on a Buffalo kick, but they would probably be just as good with only salt and pepper. 🙂
