Hi Everyone!

The weather is cooler now, and it’s actually beginning to feel like fall! Mornings are even a bit chilly–love, love, love it! The kiddos and I love looking at those little holiday village displays that pop up before Halloween and Christmas. I’ve been trying to collect a few pieces here and there, and I buy them from the Dollar Store or from craft stores if they are on clearance. Needless to say, most of the good stuff is gone before I get there, so I have to work with what I have. To fill the Halloween display out a bit and add some drama, I added a background using a cluster of spray-painted branches.

It still didn’t look right, so I added some floating ghosts, which I cut from white felt that I already had. Pulling and stretching the felt a bit gave the ghosties a wispy look. Then, I added faces, using a black Sharpie–love Sharpies! The felt attached easily to the branches, and for drama, I finished the Halloween display with some colorful lights.

I think it turned out pretty well! I don’t have step-by-step pics because I didn’t know how it was going to turn out, and I didn’t want to dismantle the entire display and start over. Here are a few close-ups.

One of the kids added a pumpkin piece to the front.

                                   A close-up of the ghosties.
I love this figure–it’s exactly what we have to watch out for at our house at Halloween and anytime there’s food around!

Here’s the entire scene again. I think I may be developing an addiction to spray paint–way too many uses for this stuff! On the other hand, it’s great for frugal decorating!

Thanks for visiting!

Dee 🙂
