fruit dip recipe with cool whip and cream cheese in bowl with dippers.

I always have plenty of fresh fruit on hand for snacking, and while it’s delicious as is, a sweet dip makes it even better. This fruit dip recipe with Cool Whip is cool, creamy and pairs well with just about any fruit.

I like to set a bowl of this Cool Whip fruit dip out for the kids and I to munch on. But, you can also serve this easy party dip with a fruit platter as an appetizer or as a light dessert.

Why you’ll love this easy Cool Whip Dip!

This easy recipe uses just 4 simple ingredients that you may already have on hand.

It takes just minutes to make and can be enjoyed right away.

The dip is sweet but not too sweet. I don’t use marshmallow fluff or marshmallow creme, just powdered sugar.

cool whip, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla.

What You Need

Here’s are the basic ingredients. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.

  • Cream cheese — softened at room temperature for easier mixing
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla extract — adds a little extra flavor
  • Cool Whip — or any whipped topping. Make sure to thaw it first!

How to Make Cool Whip Fruit Dip

Just whip the cream cheese and vanilla with an electric mixer until it’s fluffy. Then, gradually mix in the powdered sugar. Fold in the whipped topping, and dig in!

Quick Tips

Don’t add the sugar all at once, as it will make a mess!

If you forget to set the cream cheese out, warm it up in your hands for a few minutes.

Use a spatula to gently fold in the whipped topping. This helps the dip stay light and fluffy.

Sprinkle a little lemon juice or lime juice on apple slices to keep them from turning brown.

What Fruits are Best for Dipping

We like sliced apples, mandarin orange slices, fresh strawberries and sliced pears for dipping. They are just large enough to hold and dip without getting your hands full of dip! Pretzel twists and graham crackers are also good — we like the salty/sweet combo! Cookies are also a good choice.

Storage

Cream cheese fruit dip needs to be stored in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the fridge. It keeps well for 3-4 days. I don’t recommend freezing the dip.
