Hi friends! I confess to going completely over the top today with this Super Chocolaty Oreo Shake, but maybe you can blame it on my husband. He bought the blender. But the kids asked for milkshakes, and I made them, so yes, I guess we’re all guilty of sharing such a rich, decadent treat. But honestly, we hardly ever make milkshakes, and since this one turned out so well, I couldn’t keep it all to myself!

When we first got the blender, we were so good. I made healthy smoothies, fruit pops and even homemade salsa, using the food processor attachment. But hey, it’s summer, and sometimes you just gotta indulge!

Plus, the kids have been after me to make cookies and cream shakes, which is one of their favorite flavors. Since I like that flavor too, I was too happy to oblige.

I haven’t made any milkshakes in ages, so the kids and I had fun experimenting this time. We used a lot of Oreos, and that gave the shakes a very rich, chocolate flavor. So it just seemed natural to call this a Super Chocolaty Oreo Shake!

Ingredients

  • 9  scoops of vanilla ice cream (I used Breyers.)
  • 12 Oreo cookies, broken up
  • 1 cup whole milk

Directions

Add all ingredients to the blender, and blend together until smooth.
Pour into ice-cold glasses, and top with whipped cream and Oreo pieces.
Enjoy!

Oreo milkshake in a mason jar

We’re already having lovely triple-digit temperatures here in the Arizona desert, so I found it worked best to put some glasses into the freezer so that the mixture would stay nice and cold and thick. I really hate runny milkshakes — just a small pet peeve of mine!

But I’m happy to say that freezing the glasses solved that problem and really helped keep the shakes nice and thick.

And with all of those chocolate sandwich cookies in there, the shakes had an incredibly intense chocolate flavor, which is never a problem around here!

Thick, rich, chocolaty — everything you could hope for in an Oreo shake! This recipe was enough to fill two mason jars, which the kids shared. But you could also fill several small glasses, as well, and this is what I usually do to keep the portions reasonable.

I also have to add that our scoop is on the small side, so you may have to adjust the amount of ice cream, depending on what size ice cream scoop you have. And if you prefer thinner shakes, just add more milk.

Like I said, we don’t usually have milkshakes, but every so often, I think it’s fine to splurge, especially in the summer. And these Chocolaty Oreo Shakes are just perfect for making summer memories!

Thanks so much for visiting!
