    DIY Pool Towel Holder

    Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend so far. Mine has been super productive--yea!! The hubs and I were both immersed in projects, and since mine is finished -- not that I'm pointing any fingers -- I wanted to show you what I made.

swim sign with hooks and towels

We had a piece of wood left over from a previous project, and it was the right size for a large sign. Since we've been working on the backyard, I thought this wood would be perfect for making a fun pool sign and towel holder. This is how the wood looked before, and you can see it's just a large, plain wooden slab.

I painted it the same off-white shade that I've been using for several recent projects. I knew I wanted to add some lettering, but it took me awhile to decide on exactly what I wanted the sign to say. In the end, I decided to keep it simple -- real simple! Because I don't have a Silhouette, I found some letter decals that were left over from the younger girls' room, and I placed them on the wood.

Then, I painted the wood with two different blue-green paints until it had a beachy vibe -- y'all know how I love beachy things!

The letters peeled off easily, exposing the white paint underneath. I sanded the area around the letters so that everything blended in, and then I added four hooks underneath the letters. So, what do you think of that plain piece of wood now?

aqua swim sign with hooks and seashells

There are two hooks in the back, so the sign fits over pool fence --easy peasy. I also added some seashells to cover up that big knot in the wood and on the other side to keep it even. We used to throw the towels over the pool fence, but now, it's so much easier for the kids to reach them. The aqua blue also adds a nice pop of color to the pool area.

Have you completed any DIY projects around your home lately? I always love it when I can cross another item off my to-do list. Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    Dee 🙂
