Easy Pumpkin Pie Dip with Cool Whip and pumpkin puree is an easy recipe for a quick fall dessert or appetizer. This fluffy sweet dip is perfect for Halloween or Thanksgiving and comes together in minutes!

I just love a quick and easy dip recipe, and this pumpkin pie dip recipe is all that and more! It's light, fluffy and loaded with pumpkin flavor plus all the fall flavors you love.
This is an easy dessert dip, and it's on the sweet side like my chocolate chip dip and caramel apple dip, eggnog dip and peppermint mocha dip.
Best of all, it takes about 5 minutes to make. If you're looking for simple dip to make for Thanksgiving, you need to check this one out!
This pumpkin pie dip makes a delicious Thanksgiving appetizer, and because it really does taste like pumpkin pie, you can even serve it as an easy dessert, instead of traditional pumpkin pie. Or, if you want to go all out, serve both. Calories don't count on holidays, right?!
Ingredients
You only need a few simple ingredients for this fluffy pumpkin dip recipe. You can find them in your grocery store or online.
- Pumpkin puree -- Look for a canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- Instant vanilla pudding mix -- Instant pudding mix, not cook and serve
- Ground cinnamon -- pairs well with pumpkin
- Pumpkin pie spice -- for that traditional pumpkin spice flavor
- Cool Whip -- or any whipped topping
How to Make Pumpkin Pie Dip
First, add the can of pumpkin puree, dry pudding mix and spices to a mixing bowl.
Note -- you are just adding the dry pudding mix only, not the ingredients to make pudding.
Mix the ingredients together until everything is completely blended. You can use a spoon or an electric mixer ( hand mixer ) for this if you like.
Next, add the Cool Whip to the pumpkin mixture. Blend everything together until the dip is light and fluffy.
Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap, and pop it into the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
I thought the pumpkin dip needed a little something extra, so we added some pretty fall sprinkles over the top. And that's all there is to it.
Just spoon the dip into a nice serving bowl, so you and your guests can just dig right in!
How to Store
Store pumpkin pie dip tightly covered in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. After serving, don't let it sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours. You can make this easy pumpkin dip recipe a day ahead of time.
Variations
You can easily change up the basic dip recipe. Add 8 ounces cream cheese for a pumpkin cheesecake flavor dip.
Make your own whipped cream using heavy cream instead of Cool Whip. The texture will be slightly different, though.
Top this fluffy dip with mini chocolate chips or M and M's. You can add brown sugar or maple syrup for a sweeter dip and play around with the spices to get the flavor you like best.
FAQ
Serve the dip with gingersnap cookies, graham crackers, apple slices, pretzels, shortbread cookies or vanilla wafer cookies.
Pumpkin dip keeps for 4 to 5 days covered in the refrigerator before it starts to break down. Usually, it is used up before that time.
And really, you don't have to save this pumpkin pie dip for Thanksgiving. It's perfect for fall potlucks, Halloween parties or whenever you need an easy dip.
If you like pumpkin pie at Christmas, this dip would be a great addition to your holiday dessert menu along with ginger snaps and vanilla wafers!
