    Duel in the Desert

    Hi There!

I just had to share a bit of randomness with you today. Technically, we have two pets in the family -- our fur boys, although I really don't think they understand the meaning of the word pet! But lately, we seem to be collecting additional four-legged creatures. I've talked about Hopkins the toad, and if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen his picture. We also have Prancer the ground squirrel, and whenever he sneaks into the yard, it just makes the fur boys go crazy. Well, lately, we've been having visits from Lester the lizard. He likes to sun himself on the fence, and this drives the fur boys wild because it's their fence, you know.

So today, I was outside taking pictures for the blog, and I decided to try to capture scenes from our own little Duel in the Desert. Lester has exceptional hearing, and whenever I would take a step in his direction, he would dive between a crack in the fence. This is kind of fuzzy because I was trying to zoom in, and the lizard was moving fast.

He's a pretty good-sized lizard. I would say he's around 1 ½ feet long. Lester kept poking his head out from between the fence blocks, trying to get a feel for the situation.

And then, he waved at his furry friend, who was sniffing madly around the yard. I think Lester knew he was safe, and he was having fun with this.

If only he would look up!

Do your dogs chase lizards? I don't know if this is a beagle thing or not, but it's so funny to watch.

Thanks for joining me for this little random slice-of-life post today. And don't forget that the Retro Re-pin party goes live later tonight, at 8 pm EDT, so get your favorite pins ready for that!  Oh, if you're searching for easy Thanksgiving desserts, I've got a real treat for you tomorrow!

    Have a super day!

I was so happy that I got to see the lizard through the camera. I couldn't get close enough on my own. 🙂

I would freak too, Adrian. My husband brought the toad in to show the kids, and I pretty much ran the other way. My dogs would hate it if we ever brought birds into the house. 🙂

Lester in the yard would be fun to watch, but if Lester got in the house, I would FREAK. They are amazingly quick and I can see why they would drive the dogs crazy. We just got two finches and they are driving my two cats INSANE! Fortunately, I got a hanging cage, so they can't reach!

Oh, that's pretty funny! You got great photos of the lizard too! We live in a place where we see plenty of wild lizards and geckos. They're cool to spot!

I was glad that the pictures came out okay. It was the first time I saw Lester up close. 🙂

I like the little ones too. There's an even bigger one that hangs out in the front yard, but he hasn't ventured into the back yet.

This is really funny. Good work with the camera to get the pictures. Animals make for some fun moments, that's for sure. Thanks for the smiles and the post!

Too funny, Dee! We have one (probably more than one, but I prefer to believe there is only one) of those really big guys. I mean he is way too big to slip through the cracks in the block wall. I much prefer the little ones!

What a cute name! I think mine would really chase anything, and it's funny to watch him try. 🙂

How hilarious! I have a beagle named Punkin & he chases lizards. He wont chase deer or rabbit's but he likes to chase butterflies, lizards, & birds, that are flying. Yeah, he doesn't really get it but he's trying haha. He never hurts anything that he just might so happen to catch either.
