    Happy Halloween

    Hello and Happy Halloween!

I don't know where this month has gone, but today is Halloween, so that mean that tomorrow is November first -- yikes! Are you ready for the holiday season? I have to admit that I'm not. We've had a warm October in the desert, and it's just starting to feel like it's really fall.

Anyway, the younger kids and I are getting ready for some serious candy hunting tonight, and I'm also hosting a bunch of teen girls, so I've got some cleaning and last-minute shopping to do.

It's a family tradition to have a quick dinner of mummy dogs before the kids head out to go trick-or-treating. I know a lot of people do this, and it's funny because last year, one of my teens asked why we had to have the same thing every year. So that night, one of the girls in her group thought that this was the cutest idea ever. She hadn't grown up in this country and had never had a mummy dog before. I think my daughter saw our little traditions in a new way after that night! And, that's why continue to do what we do.

Like let the kids each paint their own pumpkins...

And add to the Halloween Village each year...

And read our favorite Halloween books...

    And carve the Great Pumpkin...

If you think this is a big list, just wait until Christmas -- 'tis the season! Have a fun and safe night, friends. Now, it's on to Thanksgiving!
