I showed you some of our Christmas decorations a few days ago, and I have just a few more things to share. For some reason, this season seems to have gone by in a flash — really. I know I’ve said that before, but I am honestly amazed that Christmas is only a few short days away. Since the kids’ winter break starts tomorrow, it will be chaos around here as usual when they’re all home. So, if this post seems a bit hurried, you can understand why! Anyway, here are some of the other holiday scenes around our home.
We’ve had this large Nativity scene for a few years, and I’m always worried about it being knocked down and broken because of the hard tile floors. So this year, I stacked some of the painted crates I have and arranged the manger scene on different levels. I saw something similar on Pinterest and loved the idea. I’m thinking I’ll do this again next year, but I think it might look better with some dried moss or straw added around the crates. I didn’t add anything this year because I was worried about the fur balls or the kids messing with it, but so far they haven’t gone near the display!
We actually have two of the Fisher Price manger sets, but you just know the breakable figures are more fun to play with!
This vintage manger set was my grandmother’s, and I have no idea how old it is. I know it’s old, but I just don’t know how old. I love it, though, and it always goes on one of the shelves, just to keep it safe. I don’t even add anything around it because I like how simple it is.
And here’s the tree! We have had so many cloudy days lately that it’s been a real challenge to get decent indoor pictures, and I am so not used to that! I took this one in the evening since the lights make it brighter. Then, I realized that the drapes were off on one side, so I cropped the photo more to even it out. Oh, and you can see the cords in back, but we’re keeping it real today!
The kids’ ornaments pretty much dominate it, but I love seeing what they’ve made each year. I was going to add more ribbon, but I never got around to it. I went to Michael’s yesterday, and they were about done with the holiday stuff already — amazing! Here’s the Lego snowman my little guy made. He’s so proud of this one!
I thought I would include a picture of the fireplace and our twig tree, just in case you haven’t seen it. We made the tree last year, and I love how simple it is.
How’s that for another mini tour? Are you ready for Christmas, or are you still getting things done? We’ll be working on a few crafts next week since the kids will be home, but then it’s baking, cooking and wrapping like mad. Fun times!
Thanks so much for visiting. Have a super day!
