This easy recipe for peanut butter chocolate chip bars makes delicious cookie bars filled with peanut butter and chocolate chips and topped with peanut butter cups for even more flavor. This simple dessert is guaranteed to be a family favorite!

My daughter made this peanut butter chocolate chip bar recipe twice last week, and the bars were gone within a couple of days. The classic combo of chocolate and peanut butter combo never gets old. And these soft and chewy cookie bars are so good that even I couldn’t resist snacking on them!
This is the same basic recipe we use for our chocolate chip cookie bars. Only this time, we added peanut butter and peanut butter cups. Enjoy these peanut butter cup cookie bars for a simple dessert or sweet treat with a glass of cold milk or a cup of coffee or cocoa or tea. Or, do what I did and sneak a bite whenever you happen to pass by the kitchen!
Why you’ll love these peanut butter chocolate chip cookie bars

It’s a super easy one bowl recipe that’s easy to prepare and takes minutes to make.
Bar cookies bake faster than regular cookies, so you can make a batch in no time.
They’re soft, chewy, chocolatey and perfect when you’re craving chocolate, peanut butter or both!

What You Need
Here are the basic ingredients. You can find full amounts and directions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post
- Butter — I use salted butter, but unsalted butter is fine
- Peanut butter — I love creamy peanut butter, but you can use chunky if you want a nuttier flavor and texture
- Brown sugar and white sugar — for sweetness
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract — adds flavor
- All purpose flour
- Baking powder — to help the bars rise
- Salt and cinnamon — for a touch of flavor
How to Make Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars
Melt the butter in a large bowl in your microwave. Then, stir in the sugars, peanut butter and wet ingredients. Add the dry ingredients, and mix until well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips, and use a spatula or your hands to press dough into a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Top with additional chocolate chips and peanut butter cups, and bake.

Quick Tips
Be careful not to over bake the bars. A toothpick should come out clean, and the bars should no longer look greasy or wet. The center may still be soft but will firm up as the bars cool.
If you store your peanut butter in the fridge, I recommend letting it come to room temperature so it’s easier to handle.
Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for 4-5 days — if they last that long!
