cake mix, cream cheese, milk, vanilla, sprinkles, cool whip.

What You Need to Make it

Here are the basics. Full amounts are listed in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • White cake mix — any brand.
  • Cream cheese — makes the dip nice and creamy. Let it soften at room temperature so it’s easy to work with
  • Milk — to thin out the dip
  • Cool Whip — thawed
  • Vanilla extract — for flavor
  • Patriotic sprinkles — you can’t have Funfetti without them!

How to Make Patriotic Funfetti Dip

First, you microwave the dry cake mix so that the raw flour is safe to eat. Then, beat the cream cheese in a mixing bowl until it’s fluffy, and add in the milk and vanilla. Next, fold in the whipped topping and sprinkles. Refrigerate until ready to serve. You can add additional sprinkles on top before serving if needed.

Quick Tips

Make sure to heat treat cake mix before using for food safety.

Allow heat treated cake mix to cool completely before using, or the cream cheese will melt.

Store the dip in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in your refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Serving Suggestions

We like to serve this sweet dessert dip with graham crackers, vanilla wafer cookies, animal crackers, pretzels and fresh fruit. We love strawberries with this patriotic cake batter dip. You can always use your favorite dippers!
