Hi friends! The kiddos go back to school in a few days, and I’ve been running around like crazy trying to get everything they need. No matter how well we plan everything out, the first morning is always rushed, and of course, we have to make time for those important first-day photos! But, I’ve already got a terrific back-to-school breakfast planned out, and this Easy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie literally comes together in a matter of minutes.
We had such a lazy summer, and there was always time to whip up some pancakes or muffins on a whim. But since we leave the house around 7 on school days, and I am not a morning person, quick breakfasts are definitely in order.
I like to give the kids several options so that they can’t say there’s nothing to eat. My teen queen is always running out of time in the morning, and she usually ends up munching on something on the way to school.
So, while we were at Walmart buying some last minute supplies, I had the kids pick out some easy snacks and choose what they wanted for breakfast.
We found everything we needed in the breakfast aisle, from granola bars to cereal. My kids love Quaker oatmeal products, and I was thrilled to see that they now come in value packs at Walmart, which means more for my money!
The kids picked out Quaker Apples and Cinnamon instant oatmeal, Cinnamon Life Cereal, and some very tasty-looking Peanut Butter Chewy Dipps. Chocolate and peanut butter-covered granola bars? What’s not to love about that?!
There’s even a bonus Birthday Cake bar, which my little Diva declared was hers, included in the package. We found these in a separate display at the end of the cereal aisle.
My kids love oatmeal, but since it’s still so warm here, I decided to use instant packets to whip up a nice cool breakfast smoothie. This way, we can enjoy the awesome flavor of apples and cinnamon oatmeal in a refreshing breakfast smoothie.
Best of all, my teen can sip it on the way to school!
Ingredients for Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie
- 2 packages of Quaker Apples and Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 cups ice
Makes about 6 cups, but refrigerate any leftovers.
I think these are the easiest directions ever! And since the oatmeal packets are already seasoned, there’s no need to add anything else. Plus, it tastes amazing. Even my picky teen liked it!
Of course, you also need to have plenty of snack options during the school day and after. Honestly, my kids love to munch on dry cereal by the handful, so I’ll sometimes add a cup or two of cereal to a sandwich bag and pack it along with their lunches.
Other fun snacks include fresh fruit, wraps, fresh veggies and dips.
And the Chewy Dipps are perfect for tucking into their backpacks. I even used some chalkboard stickers and a white paint pen to add a personalized note, just for the first day or so.
I still can’t believe summer is just about over. Honestly, where did the time go?
So, are your kids ready to go back? Have you ever made a breakfast smoothie with instant oatmeal, or do you have any other tips to share? I would love to hear them.
