2 ingredient chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and sprinkles

You won't believe that these super delicious chocolate cupcakes are made with just Greek yogurt and cake mix! It sounds incredible, but believe me, this cupcake recipe is for real!

My daughter made these easy yogurt cupcakes for us, and I honestly did not believe it when she told me what was in them. They taste so good, and they're not dry at all.

If you're looking for a two ingredient cupcake recipe without eggs or oil, you've got to try this one! We made another batch for dessert last night, and they're already gone!

How to Make Greek Yogurt Cupcakes with Cake Mix

First, pour the chocolate cake mix into a large mixing bowl. Then, spoon in the Greek yogurt, and mix until combined.

You can use any chocolate cake mix, but the ones with pudding in the mix or Devil's food flavor have a richer flavor.

mix yogurt and chocolate cake mix in a mixing bowl

The batter is not very smooth. It's thick and probably closer to cookie dough, but this is normal.

Spoon the batter into muffin tin cups. We used paper cupcake liners, but if you don't have these, just grease the muffin tin.

If you fill the cups to the top, you can get 12 muffins. But, they'll be extra large and have muffin tops.

Fill the liners about â…”rds full, and you can get about 18 cupcakes. Keep in mind, these are dense cupcakes, but there's a lot of flavor in them!

Bake the cupcakes for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. You might want to check for doneness around 18 minutes since oven temperatures may vary.

frost chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting

How to Frost Chocolate Yogurt Cupcakes

We made homemade chocolate buttercream frosting, but you can use your favorite frosting here. My daughter used canned frosting the first time around.

If you want, you can keep it super simple and dust some powdered sugar on top. Whatever works!
