sour cream, cream cheese, dill pickles, pickle juice, garlic and fresh dill

Ingredients

There are just few simple ingredients in this pickle dip. You can find them in your grocery store if you don’t have them at home.

  • Cream cheese — at room temperature for easy mixing
  • Sour cream
  • Dill pickles — I used small Polish dill pickles, but any kind will work
  • Pickle juice — pickle brine straight from the jar
  • Fresh dill — fresh dill weed
  • Garlic powder

How to Make Dill Pickle Dip

First, beat the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.

Then, add the sour cream and mix until well combined.

Next, get out your cutting board, and chop up the pickles into small pieces. Tip — the easiest way to chop whole pickles is to cut them lengthwise first.

Then, chop the long slices into smaller pieces.

Add the chopped pickles to the cream cheese mixture. Then, add the pickle juice and the remaining ingredients to the mixing bowl.

Stir the dip with a large spoon until well blended.

How to Store

Cover the dip with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Transfer to a serving bowl right before serving.

Although you can eat the dip right away, I highly recommend letting the dip sit for a couple of hours before serving. The flavors develop the longer the dip sits. In fact, the dip tastes even better the next day!

Be sure to refrigerate any leftover dip with 2 hours in an airtight container. It keeps for about 4 days — if there is any left!

What to Serve with Pickle Dip

Serve this easy pickle dip with your favorite dippers — potato chips, pretzels, crackers, pita chips or your favorite fresh vegetables.

We love this creamy dip with fresh veggies such as carrot slices, celery, sliced bell peppers or mini peppers and cucumbers, too. You can even use it as a dipping sauce for your favorite snacks.

Recipe Variations

I use fresh dill, but you can use dried dill if you like. Start with 2 teaspoons and go from there.

Sub Greek yogurt for the sour cream. If you want a creamier dip, use a mix of half mayonnaise and half sour cream with the cream cheese base.

You can add more chopped pickles, and enough pickle juice to suit your tastes. If you’re not a huge pickle fan, I recommend starting out with 2 tablespoons and adding more if you like.

Chopped red onions or green onions will add flavor and crunch. Love ranch flavor? Sprinkle in ranch seasoning mix, to taste.

The flavor of the dip will vary with the kind of pickles you use.
