What Makes It Halloween Food?

Halloween food is all about classic spooky creatures like ghosts, mummies, witches and zombies, while also highlighting black cats, bats and Jack O’ Lanterns. Regular pumpkins are also a feature as Halloween is a Fall holiday. As for how to make your food resemble these, it’s time to get creative!

Use seasonal cookie cutters to make sugar cookies, or melt colorful candy melts over Oreos and Nutter Butters! Wrap your hot dogs and meatloaf in crescent roll dough to resemble a mummy. I like to add candy pumpkins, gummy worms or candy corns as well, along with other seasonal candy, such as in my Halloween Dirt Cups!

Halloween also has a traditional color scheme: light green for zombies, orange for pumpkins, black for cats and bats, purple for witches and white for mummy wrappings. You can make these colors with candy melts, dyed white chocolate, M&Ms, sprinkles or icing!
