If you're looking for simple homemade ranch dressing recipe without buttermilk, you're going to love this one! Made with just a few fresh ingredients, it'll rock your world -- or at least, your salad!

We're a family of serious ranch lovers -- I'm talking about using it for way more than just the usual salad dressing. We use it as a dip for veggies, pizza, chips and chicken nuggets.  I also add it to some of our favorite dinners, like Instant Pot Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta, Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken  and Mississippi Chuck Roast.

Honestly, my kiddos would drink it if they could! Since we use ranch more than any other salad dressing, I started making my own -- it's super easy to make your own salad dressing, and you'll never want the bottled kind again!

How to Make Homemade Ranch Dip and Dressing

Like I said, this version of ranch dressing is made without buttermilk and uses fresh parsley and chives. If you're not in the mood for chopping, I also have a quick and easy homemade buttermilk ranch dressing recipe that uses dried herbs.

Start out by chopping up the fresh chives and parsley. Try to get the pieces as small as you can.

Next, add the fresh herbs to a bowl, along with mayo, sour cream, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Then, mix it until everything is well blended. And that's all there is to making your own homemade salad dressing!

To thin the dressing, add enough milk until it reaches your desired consistency. I prefer a thinner dressing, so I add almost a quarter cup. But, you can start out with a tablespoon or 2, and go from there.

To make ranch dip, leave the milk out. It'll thicken up in the fridge.

It should keep in the fridge for up to a week. Ours is gone way before that, though!

    What's a Substitute for Chives

You can use chopped onions or green onions. You can also use dried minced onions or dried chives.
