Taco Crescent Ring Ingredients

You can find these simple ingredients in your grocery store if you don’t already have them at home.

  • Ground beef — Use lean ground beef or extra lean beef if you can. I like to use leftover taco meat to make this easy recipe easier. You can sub ground turkey or ground chicken if you want.
  • Crescent dough — 2 cans of crescent rolls, any brand
  • Taco seasoning — I use homemade taco seasoning, but a packet of taco seasoning is fine.
  • Shredded cheese — I like a combination of cheddar cheese and Mexican blend, but use your favorite taco cheese here.

How to Make Taco Ring with Crescent Rolls

First, cook the ground beef in a large skillet. Drain grease if needed, and add taco seasoning and water.

Simmer until the liquid is absorbed, and allow to cool down slightly.

Mix in part of the cheese. This will help bind the beef so that it’s not super crumbly.

cook seasoned ground beef with shredded cheese.

Next, form the ring with crescent roll dough. Use a pizza pan or pizza stone if you have one. A large 9×13 baking sheet also works.

Place a 5-inch bowl in the middle of the tray. You want a 5-inch circle in the middle of the ring, and this will serve as a guide to help you form the ring.

Open both cans of dough, and place the wide ends of the crescent triangles up against the bowl. You will need to overlap the triangles a little bit.

You can remove the bowl from the center of the ring now.

Next, spoon the taco-seasoned ground beef on top of the wide ends of the triangles.

You want a thick layer of beef here. Otherwise, the ring will be too flat. Then, sprinkle remaining cheese on top of the ground beef filling.

Finally, take the tip of each triangle, and fold it over the meat filling. Press the points of triangles under the bottom layer of dough.

Pinch the dough together so that the ring is tightly sealed.

Cooking Time

Bake the taco ring in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until it is golden brown and cheese is melted.

Remove from the oven, and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serve with Taco Toppings

For a fun presentation, fill the center of the ring with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes or black olives.

Serve sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and salsa on the side.

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

Refrigerate leftover taco ring in an airtight container for up to 4 days. You can freeze the leftovers in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.

Reheat taco triangles in the microwave, in the oven or toaster oven or in the air fryer.

Helpful Tips

If using leftover taco meat, you will need at least a pound. Heat the meat and mix with cheese before using, as cold taco meat is crumbly and harder to work with.

Allow the ground beef mixture to cool slightly before assembling the ring. It should be warm, but cool enough to handle.

The first time you make this recipe, it may be a little tricky. Don’t worry about forming a perfect circle! It gets easier the next time you make it!

You can brush the crescent dough with an egg wash for a shinier finish if you like.

Add your favorite taco fillings. Black beans, corn, jalapeño peppers, chopped onions are great additions. You can also spread a thin layer of refried beans on the bottom of the dough before adding meat.
