Instant Pot Peach Dump Cake is an easy summer dessert recipe that you make in the pressure cooker with just 4 ingredients in only 30 minutes!

You could say I’m slightly obsessed with easy Instant Pot recipes right now. I have loads of Instant Pot dinner recipes here on Meatloaf and Melodrama and a few side dishes. So, I guess it’s about time to add a few Instant Pot desserts to the mix!

This peach dump cake is an easy Instant Pot dessert recipe that is basically a peach cobbler or peach crisp, only it’s way easier! I guess you could call this a no bake dessert because you only use the oven to broil it for about 5 minutes in the end. And, that part is optional!

At first, I was wary of making desserts in the Instant Pot. So I experimented with one of our favorite easy dessert recipes — Easy Peach Cake. You guys, this Instant Pot dump cake is the bomb!  And one of the best things about this easy Instant Pot cake is that you don’t need to heat up your house in the summer to enjoy it!

How to make peach dump cake in the Instant Pot pressure cooker

One reason why it took my so long to attempt making Instant Pot desserts was that I didn’t have any cake pans that fit in the Instant Pot. Yes, I really need to order some on Amazon, but in the meantime, I just decided to use one of my oven-safe Corningware casserole dishes.

You can use any oven-safe cake pan that will fit in your Instant Pot to make this peach cake. I used my 6 quart pressure cooker for this recipe, so my 1.5 quart dish ( 6.5 inches ) fit perfectly.

To make the cake, all you do is grease the pan, and add 2 cans of sliced peaches. We cut the peach slices in half, but this is optional. Next, sprinkle in some cinnamon for extra flavor!

Then, you add about half a bag of yellow cake mix directly on top of the peaches and swirl the cake mix lightly so that some of the dry mix gets mixed with the peach juice.

Add some pats of butter evenly over the cake mix. When it melts, it’s form a rich, buttery crust.

Now, it’s time to bake the cake in the Instant Pot!

Add water and the trivet to the pot, and place the cake pan on the trivet. You’ll need to place a small square of foil over the pan to prevent water from dripping all over the cake. I forgot to do this once, and the crust was good, but not as crisp and firm as I wanted.

I found that cooking the dump cake for 25 minutes with a 5 minute natural release was perfect!

To make the crust extra golden and delicious, I popped the cake under the broiler for about 5 minutes. It’s not required, but I definitely recommend it!

Let the cake cool slightly, then dig in! A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top makes this delicious pressure cooker peach dump cake even better!

Can you make this cake in the slow cooker?

Definitely! You can make this slow cooker peach cobbler recipe, but the amounts are slightly different.

Can you use a different fruit filling?

You can use cherry pie filling and make Instant Pot cherry dump cake or apple pie filling or apple slices for Instant Pot apple dump cake. These are next on my list!

Ingredients  

  • 2 15-ounce cans of peaches in juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ box vanilla cake mix
  • ¼ cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup water

Instructions 

  • lightly grease a round baking pan or casserole dish, and pour peaches into pan 
  • Use a knife to cut peaches in half, then stir in cinnamon
  • Pour cake mix over peaches, and lightly swirl with knife
  • Add slices of butter evenly over cake mix
  • Pour water into Instant Pot, and place trivet in pot 
  • Place baking dish on top of trivet, and place a sheet of aluminum foil lightly over baking dish
  • Place lid on Instant Pot, turn vent to sealing position, and hit PRESSURE COOK for 25 minutes
  • Allow a 5 minute natural release, then do a quick release
  • When pin drops, remove lid and carefully lift handles of trivet (using oven mitts) to remove from pot, and remove foil.  
  • Place peach cake in oven, and broil for about 5 minutes or until top is golden. Remove from oven, and allow to cool slightly before serving

Notes

Peach dump cake recipe was made in 6-quart Instant Pot pressure cooker using 6.5 inch round oven-safe Corningware baking dish.
The cake will thicken up as it cools. To reduce the liquid, you can drain the juice from one can of peaches before using.

    I am using fresh peaches in this recipe and adding juice instead of the canned peaches liquid. My question is, How much liquid should i use in the cake?

      The cake mix goes on top of the peaches with butter on top to form a cobbler-like topping. So, you don’t really need to add any more liquid. 🙂

      Did you broil it afterwards? That helps, but I know not everyone likes pressure cooking dessert. We mainly do this in the summer when it’s too hot to use the oven. 🙂

      Hmmm. I just checked, and mine doesn’t say that. I’m not sure what the difference is, but I also checked the product page, which says it’s safe for use under the broiler. Maybe there are different styles? It’s only under the broiler for about 5 minutes, but I would definitely follow the manufacturer’s instructions for that particular dish.
